Our earliest buyers were close friends, right after Adriana, our creative director, shared on Instagram the very first piece she had made. They were thrilled with it, so we carried on doing it as a pastime for a few months. It might sound cliché, but back in those days we were assembling them inside our own flat (no garage, though nearly) and we would welcome pals over to talk through what they needed in their customized backpack.
We are Ölend, and backpacks and objects are what we make.
( 1 ) WHY ÖLEND
Ölend started out as a labor of love shared by Adriana and Fran, who crossed paths while shooting in Barcelona. Along the way they came across a DIY backpack workshop and began making their own creations, which soon drew interest from friends and strangers alike. As demand for the pieces kept rising, Ölend came to life. Later on, Antonio and Juan — Fran's childhood friends — joined the team.
From that very first backpack sewn in our living room to the shop windows and streets where our goods are sold nowadays, we stay devoted to giving our customers the best experience we possibly can.
( 2 ) HOW WE DO IT
We have been designing and testing our backpacks in Barcelona since the end of 2012. We have faith in your journey, and that is why we craft accessories for the genuine urban adventurer, drawing on the spirit of the mountaineers from the 1940s and 1950s.
